On Monday July 6th Trevor and James Nixon of Cycle Canada Magazine, embarked on the 4000km drive to Castrol Raceway in Edmonton Alberta for rounds 3 and 4 of the Mopar CSBK Canadian Superbike Championship co-presented by Parts Canada.
Trevor took to the track Thursday aboard the Parts Canada / Suzuki Canada GSX-R1000 getting up to speed and becoming comfortable throughout the day. Tuner Dave Weaver arrived Thursday evening and upon reviewing the days gathered data, dialing some more speed in for Friday was looking promising. Friday’s qualifying session was very close and landed Trevor in p5 for the start of both the weekend’s feature races.
Saturday at Castrol Raceway was a hot one and Trevor was confident with his fitness and his comfort in his Alpinestar leathers and HJC RPHA-10 helmet. Between that and the setup Dave had on the bike that was going to keep the Dunlop slick tires from Pro6cycle in good shape, Trevor was set for a late race charge.
Despite some bad brakes with lap traffic, Trevor was able to bring his Suzuki up to 4th place rider, Mike Leon in the final laps. Unfortunately a fuel pickup issue that started on lap 8 of 16, made Trevor unable to get all the power out of his Yoshimura RnD USA Suzuki to make the pass and make a run for 3rd in the final stages of the race but 5th was a welcome result all things considered.
With Dave and Trevor able to diagnose and fix Saturday’s mechanical issue, Sunday’s Mopar CSBK race 4 was looking promising for a good result.
Trevor ran a consistent pace throughout the race and was able to set his fastest laps of the entire weekend bringing the Parts Canada / Suzuki Canada GSX-R1000 powered by Yoshimura Research and Development USA and Rockstar Energy Canada home in third.

Trevor was very pleased with the result and was very happy to be joined at the podium by old friend, Calvin Reid of Reid’s Roofing, a local Edmonton area business who helped all weekend, as well as all the fans who were there cheering Trevor on!
Heading to round 5 of the Mopar CSBK championship two weeks from now at Atlantic Motorsports Park outside of Halifax NS, Trevor and the entire team are excited as they feel that after the setbacks due to Trevor’s pre-season crash are mostly in the past. Trevor now sits 5th in the pro superbike points chase and has his sights set forward.
