CANADA’S TYLER MEDAGLIA FINISHES 7TH AT THE FIRST ROUND OF THE ROCKSTAR ENERGY MOTOCROSS NATIONALS
PARTS CANADA HUSQVARNA RIDER TYLER MEDAGLIA BATTLES THROUGH A ROUGH WEEKEND IN KAMLOOPS BC
The first round of the Rockstar Energy Canadian Motocross Nationals is in the books after a typically hot and dusty weekend in Kamloops BC. The 40 degree + heat and the rough track proved to be a challenge for all of the racers and teams, yet four Canadian racers including Parts Canada Husqvarna rider Tyler Medaglia finished in the top 10.
In typical Tyler fashion, instead of relaxing in the air conditioning the day before the race, Tyler was out riding in the hills above Kamloops enjoying his 2016 FC350 and spending quality time with his family. When race day approached, the welcoming atmosphere and family values of the Husqvarna Race team became evident as the Medaglia family including Tyler’s wife Heidi Cooke (former Canadian Motocross women’s Champion) arrived on site to support and cheer Tyler on.
Practice on Sunday would reveal that although Tyler was feeling comfortable and happy with his bike set up, the 28 year old Nova Scotia rider was having trouble finding his groove and adapting to the rough track and the heat. The trend continued with an 8th place finish in Moto 1 and a 7th place finish in Moto 2.
Tyler Medaglia: “It wasn’t’ the best. I got tangled up in the first start and came through the pack from last. I rode my best but just felt uncomfortable all day. The heat caused some problems and I struggled with some brake over-heating issues. We will rebound for round 2, I’m not too worried and I’m giving it my all. We had a lot of kids coming by for posters and autographs, the interaction with fans and spectators in the pits is an important part of race day and we had a great time.
The next stop on the Canadian circuit is Nanaimo BC. Nanaimo is notorious for its rough track and difficult terrain, but when the going gets tough, Tyler’s heart and determination shine through above all. There is no doubt that he will rebound at Round 2 and prove to be a fierce competitor on his FC350, but knowing Tyler he will also enjoy the journey and have fun time doing it.
