The KTM Thor Racing Team leaves the West Coast in control of the 2016 Series

Regina, SK – The unique track conditions of the Moto Valley Raceway didn’t stop all 3 KTM Thor riders to get on the podium this past weekend in Saskatchewan. Round 4 of the CMRC Canadian Motocross Series was good for the orange bleeders as they got to witness Millsaps and Thompson leading the pack in their respective classes.

On a track that he described as different from anything he had ever seen before, Davi Millsaps took control of the MX1 class and rode his KTM 450 SX-F to another overall victory. In the first moto of the day, Millsaps grabbed the holeshot and lead wire to wire to finished 1st in front of his team mate, Kaven Benoit. Moto 2 wasn’t much different for Davi as he got the lead in the opening lap and never looked behind. “ The West coast has been really good for me. As we are heading East for round 5, I know that the tracks will be completely different and I will use the next two weeks to make sure I’m 100% ready for it.”

Round 4 had highs and lows for the MX1 rookie Kaven Benoit. He started the day by setting the 2nd fastest lap time in practice which gave him a lot of confidence heading into the gate drop for Moto 1. Benoit got an impressive start in the top 3 and showed great speed through the whole race. He finished a well-deserved 2nd place, which gave him his first podium ever in the MX1 class. Kaven found himself riding in the top 3 in the 2nd moto as well, but then experienced a mechanical issue that prevented him from finishing his race. “I got to feel a big range of emotion today. It was a big step in the right direction for me to get my first MX1 podium and it really gave me a boost of confidence heading to the East Coast. I will put moto 2 behind me and focus on the upcoming rounds”

After being sick all week, Cole Thompson gave all he had to finish 2-1 in the MX2 class and claimed one more overall win for the KTM Thor Racing Team. Cole had a scary moment when he got caught up with some riders in the first moto start but quickly worked his way back to the top 5. The second moto was easier for Thompson as he started up in front and checked out from the pack. “Going home with the red plate and a big point lead feels really good. I worked really hard to get the results I’m getting right now but I know it’s not over and I will keep my focus on the championship as we still have 6 more rounds to go.”

With very strong results in the first 4 rounds, the KTM Thor Racing Team will head home this week to train and be ready for Gopher Dunes.
