Solid day for Monster Energy Alpinestars Kawasaki at Gopher Dunes
Double holeshots for Mike Alessi at round five
For Immediate Release
July 12, 2016(Kamloops, British Columbia) After a one week hiatus, round five of the 2016 CMRC Canadian Motocross Nationals took place this past weekend in Courtland, Ontario, in the deep sands of the rough and tough, Gopher Dunes Raceway. Always a challenging event, it proved to be a solid day for the Monster Energy Alpinestars Kawasaki team.
Coming off second overall last race, in Regina, Mike Alessi started the day off well by qualifying with the third quickest time. For the second straight race, he grabbed both holeshots on his way to 6-5 finishes for sixth overall on the day. He remains in second overall in the MX1 championship as the series reaches its halfway mark.
In MX2, Mark Worth was in the podium mix all day, ultimately finishing with 4-5 moto finishes for fifth overall in his first trip to the Dunes. Despite not joining the series till round two, Worth has climbed all the way to fifth in the MX2 standings as the series makes its way east.
Unfortunately for Vince Friese, he was injured at the previous round and was unable to race at Gopher Dunes. His status is currently Week to Week and will hopefully be back soon.
The series now heads to Quebec for round six at the Motocross Ulverton track, south of Drummondville. For more information on the CMRC Canadian Motocross series, visit www.mxnationals.ca
