Toronto, ONT--‐ Alex Welsh and the AW7R/Kenwood Electronics Suzuki team finished in 3rd position, 0.607 seconds behind the eventual winner following a race long battle at Shannonville Motorsport Park.

Starting from 3rd position, Welsh blasted off the line ready to navigate the 2.45km ‘Pro’ track for the 22-lap contest. After some early shuffling, Welsh’s GSX--‐R 1000 eventually settled into 3rd place as the trio of riders were deadlocked for the entire race. “For a lot of the race I hung back and tried to conserve stuff, saved my energy and tires,” the Uxbridge, Ont. Racer said. Welsh was unable to take advantage of his position and had to settle for third. “I think the bike was good enough to win and I think I should have taken charge of the situation. We had a shot to win. If nothing else it sets us up well from here as the season moves forward and I think it’s going to be a real dogfight until the end.

Special thanks to my whole crew for all their support and working hard all weekend.” The AW7R/Kenwood Electronics Suzuki Team will take some time to regroup before the series rejoins for the 2nd round of the 2013 Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship at Autodrome St Eustache in St Eustache, Quebec, July 5-7.
