5 SEMA CATEGORIZATION LABELS IMPORTANT INFORMATION: EMISSIONS PRODUCT CATEGORIZATION This catalog implements use of a categorization system developed by SEMA to identify emission products’ classifications and any corresponding restrictions on sales of those products. The products will be identified as fitting one of the following categories, as determined by the vendor/manufacturer. The categorization system is set forth below. The applicable product classification is displayed under the “EMIS” column in the catalog. Category Meaning Sales Restrictions 1 This Product is covered under a CARB EO and is legal for sale and use in all 50 states. See “CARB EO” definition on page 5. No USA Territory Restrictions. 2 This product is covered under a SEMA Certified Emissions certification or has otherwise met the requirements of the EPA’s Tampering Policy and is legal for sale in states that do not mandate an EO. See “Qualified Manufacturer Declared 49-State Federal Emissions Compliant Part” definition on page 5. Blocked from sales into California 3 This product is not legal for street use on an emissions-controlled vehicle. It may be used on dedicated competition or pre-pollution-controlled vehicles only. See “Race Only” Note on page 5. *Products for which vendors did not supply classification information are by default coded as “3.” Blocked from sales in ALL states unless dealer signs acknowledgment of dealer’s obligation to ensure sales or installation of such parts are on “Competition Use” only vehicles and not for highway use. 4 This product does not require an EO in California.
