Amstutz said the build focused on a careful selection of parts from the catalogue, and some custom work to modify the overall look of the stock silhouette of the bike to subtly set it apart from a stock bike. The engine was left in stock tune except for the addition of an Arlen Ness Velocity air cleaner kit and a S&S Qualifier 2-into-1 stainless steel exhaust system with a black finish. “It (the exhaust system) looks terrific,” Amstutz said. “The first time we fired up the bike and heard that sound, everyone around the bike had a big smile and the same thought – ‘We need to ride this thing!’ The sound is incredible!” There is plenty of performance from the stock combined with exhaust and air cleaner upgrade, “But there are some plans to do some additional engine tuning,” Amstutz said with a laugh. A full custom lighting upgrade includes a ProBeam Adaptive 2 headlamp and harness and TruWRAPS 360° smoke LED front fork lights from Custom Dynamics. The rear signals have been upgraded The 2025 Indian Catalogue Bike, built by Music City Indian of Nashville, Tennessee is a true “catalogue bike” - designed and built in collaboration with Drag Specialties. “We (Music City Indian Motorcycle) are known for creating some pretty cool custom Indian motorcycles,” Amstutz said. “But the challenge on this build was different. We worked with Drag Specialties using what was available in the catalogue, along with some custom work by our team, to make a bike that was a true custom build but wouldn’t break the bank. Someone can come into the shop, see this bike and see it as something they could do with their own bike.” The build started with a stock 2023 Indian Sport Chief. “Indian is kind of notorious in the custom bike world for using aluminum frames,” Amstutz said. “This model year bike is the first to have a steel frame. That makes it easier to modify, rake out the front end. with Kodlin’s 3-on-1 smooth bullet housing indicators with run/turn/ brake functions. “We wanted to get rid of the stock lighting, which always looks bulky and awkward on a custom build,” Amstutz said. “The updated electronics cleaned up the look, but took work to get right – a big thanks to Custom Dynamics for their help!” Intake, exhaust and lighting upgrades completed, the team worked on the other areas of the bike to continue the custom theme. “There is a very good selection of parts in the catalogue,” Amstutz said. “But we did have to go ‘outside’ the Indian motorcycle specific parts available to get the exact look for the final build.” One of the toughest parts of the build was finding a set of risers and handlebars. “The specific styles we wanted are not offered for Indian motorcycles yet,” said Amstutz. A set of Thrashin’ Supply Company handlebars and SlyFox billet aluminum risers were chosen. But the parts were not specifically designed for use on an Indian Sport Chief. “The parts from Thrashin’ Supply and SlyFox we decided to use, it took a lot of effort and time to figure out how to get the look we wanted. We wanted to make sure to keep the stock gauges, make sure the position of the bars looked right, felt right on the bike. It turned out great, but it was a real challenge,” Amstutz said. A set of PSR levers and ODI grips complete the customized handlebar/controls setup. Changes to the bike’s bodywork started with the addition of a Klock Werks front fender. “We did a little reshaping to get it to the look we wanted,” Amstutz said. The remaining stock bodywork (front fairing, side panels and rear fender) were chopped or modified to make the bike appear more sleek. The final paint features a Mopar Green with graphics. The wheels and handlebars have a custom Burnt Bronze Cerakote finish. The final look is very eye-catching. “It gets attention everywhere we take it,” Amstutz said. “Aside from the amazing paint and cool wheel finishes, the shape does look somewhat stock … but if you park it next to a stock bike, people start to zero in on all the extra bodywork changes and details that make it really stand out.” “We are very grateful for the opportunity to work with Drag Specialties on this project,” Amstutz said. “It was a really fun build! Indian is kind of the ‘new kid on the block’ right now, but we hope this bike really starts to show what can be done with the brand. It is a cool bike.
